As you mentioned, we use the background location within this app, that's becuase this app is a location based social networking app, we need the user's location data to be updated whenever he/she moves to decide which zone/站点 ('zone' is a concept we use to define a specific area, normally it's 900 x 900 square meters.) he/she is in at that moment, once we've decided the zone the user belongs to, we push message feeds in that specific zone to him/her, and all.his/her activities are restricted within the zone.

Besides, we also use a user's location information to create a new zone if there isn't one at that location.

That's how the app is using this feature, hope you get what I mean.
